Our continuous search for Study With Adam “Guitar Legends” has always been exciting. It has opened the opportunity for me to get to know my SWA students’ stories and experiences as musicians on a deeper level. Our new guitar legend has proven that age and lack of experience are not a hindrance to becoming better at something we are passionate about.
I proudly introduce to you, Scott Peck, a certified Study With Adam Guitar Legend!
I got a chance to talk with Scott about his music, and we had a great time making this video.
Scott lives in San Diego, California. He has been playing guitar on and off for 40 years, and he recently joined Study With Adam (SWA) in June 2020. At the moment, he’s learning my (Adam Rafferty) arrangement of “Imagine” and is currently playing on his main guitar, a Taylor 414-CE.
Scott’s favorite music genres include The Beatles, swing, and 70s acoustic. His musical inspirations are Tommy Emmanuel, Joe Robinson, and, of course, Adam Rafferty (yours truly!).
Scott stopped playing guitar in his mid-20s, but he picked it up again a few years ago. He still considers himself an advanced beginner, but he is eager to improve his skills with the help of SWA.
One of the things that Scott likes most about SWA is the various paths available to each student based on their ability. Although he has played guitar most of his life, he never played fingerstyle until he joined Study With Adam. He needed to join as a beginner to learn this new style, and he has been impressed with the resources and support available to him.
For Scott, personal interaction with a mentor like me has been a huge help and motivator for him. Having direct access to a guitar legend has been invaluable to Scott’s learning journey, and he appreciates the personalized feedback and guidance he has received.
At his current age of early 60s, Scott understands the importance of continuing to challenge himself and learn new things. He has found that Study With Adam provides him with the resources and support he needs to keep improving his guitar skills, no matter his age or level of experience. With his dedication to learning, Scott Peck is well on his way to becoming an even more accomplished guitar player.

Hello Adam!
It’s nice to hear how SWA works. I think I’m a bit similar to Scott, except I stopped playing guitar a lot longer. I’m struggling to play one of your Steve Wonder fingerstyle arrangements (I Wish) right now, but I still need to improve my skills and maybe one day I’ll be able to play a bigger part of the song. SWA is definitely a nice way to learn better.
