Hailing from the vibrant city of Brussels, meet our Study With Adam Guitar Legend, Frank Stroobandt! “Music with soul and groove”—that’s what Frank swears by. With 33 years of guitar-playing under his belt, Frank embodies a legacy of commitment, passion, and pure love for the art of music.
I got a chance to talk with Frank about his music, and we had a great time making this video.
Starting as a young, aspiring guitarist, Frank’s journey took an enriching turn in September 2015 when he joined the Study with Adam (SWA) community. And it wasn’t just about learning chords or notes. For Frank, it was the groove-centric lessons and intricately designed guitar arrangements that set SWA apart. He reveled in the newfound direction, which helped him shape his own unique arrangements of tunes, breathing life and musicality into every note.
Currently, Frank’s horizon is dotted with promising projects. Not only is he on the cusp of recording an original track, but he’s also diligently expanding his repertoire, gearing up for a solo fingerstyle gig that’s bound to sweep audiences off their feet.
When asked about his go-to instruments, Frank’s eyes light up. The Larrivee L5 isn’t just any guitar; it’s his musical partner, echoing his emotions and enhancing his soulful renditions.
Frank’s eclectic taste in music is evident in his influences. From the legendary jazz vibes of Grant Green to the iconic rock beats of Eric Clapton, his inspirations are as diverse as they are impactful. Add in the fingerstyle mastery of Tommy Emmanuel and the timeless tunes of Chet Atkins and Django Reinhardt, and you get a playlist that’s a testament to his musical range.
Brussels, with its melting pot of cultures and thriving art scene, has been the perfect backdrop for Frank’s musical journey. Every street corner, every café, every bustling square plays a part in his story, providing inspiration and a stage to showcase his ever-evolving talent.
In a world where digital tunes often drown out the authenticity of live music, Frank Stroobandt stands tall as a beacon for genuine, heartfelt performances. His journey with SWA has not just honed his skills but also kindled a fire that inspires guitarists around the globe.
Here’s to Frank, Brussels’ very own SWA Guitar Legend, who reminds us all about the power of passion and the magic of real music.
